  • Ditched the Nespresso Machine and bought a Sage

Decided to ditch my Nespresso machine as it just didn’t heat the milk up enough to enjoy my coffee. Carley has now taken the machine to her salon so she can make latte’s and cappuccinos for her clients.

Went and bought a Sage Barista Express from Lakeland and its a much better machine (and twice the price) as it grinds the beans and has a milk steaming wand.

Takes a bit of time to get it set up correctly as each different type of bean needs to be ground at a different setting of coarseness in order to achieve the correct espresso pull.

The age of the beans also has a bearing on the grind level, the older they are the finer it has to be set. When I say older I mean this is measured in days, not weeks. The beans lose some o ftheir oils and become drier, so the water flows through the portafilter easier and the pressure doesn’t build sufficiently to get a tasty brew.

With a bit of practice it produces a nice espresso.

    Would recommend.

  • Nespresso Coffee Ratings

Here’s my Nespresso Coffee Pod ratings so far

    02/01/2013 Capriccio capsule 6/10

    03/01/2013 Ristretto capsule 6/10

04/01/2013 Roma Capsule 9/10 (very nice)

  • New Nespresso Machine

Bought a nespresso machine from John Lewis last night, a Delonghi lattissima. Already had one cappuccino from it and must say I am impressed.

The milk steamer is great, the milk was nice and frothy and most importantly, it was hot!

Now, as there is a bewildering array of coffees, I am going to start a rating system as I try the different ones.

The progress of my chillies so far, the Cayenne and Jalopeno seem to have grown considerably faster than the Scotch Bonnet.

  • Bought an ipad!

Finally succumbed and took the plunge and got myself an ipad. Thought it might be beneficial for work demos as the westcon ipad app looks really good on it and anything that elevates us above the competition can only be good.

Loving the sky go app and BBC iplayer too.

I can also pick up work email on it so hopefully I can ditch my awful work blackberry.

Ordered a case, screen protector and a stand for it too.

  • Dirty digest!

Here’s me with AJ Odudu, after filming Dirty Digest. I actually had to get up and leave the audience to find a toilet during filming as I’d had a good few beers before they started and I was utterly busting.

  • Bored

Not much been happening for the last couple of weeks, just been to the gym a couple of times to stave off the boredom.

Work is pretty slow right now, not many sales for me to check through which is disappointing as I could do with the commission as the car is playing about (making a screeching noise from one of the belts – hope that’s all it is) so I’d really like to get a new one, but want to make some decent inroads on the credit cards first….

  • Ashley’s eyes shot by lasers!

Took Ashley to get his eyes lasered at Optical Express in Lakeside this morning.

We got there at 08:30 and were pretty much done by 10:00. He came out of there looking a bit red in the face and it would appear the pain he was in was not so pleasant.

Got him home as quick as I could without speeding and he then went straight to bed after taking some painkillers and then slept pretty much until 18:00.

The pain is much less now apparently and I have had to administer some eye drops. He’s currently sitting here with Jez watching Paranormal Activity 2 wearing sunglasses.

I think the film is rather shit so I’m not watching it. Maybe I’m scared!

    Nah.
